The IOC Finally Includes the Fifth RIng

I had no idea the Olympic Games had never been held in South America. They’re a world sporting contest, aren’t they? How can an entire continent (of which there are only 5) have been ignored for so long? As much as I like Chicago and commend everyone for trying to get the Games there, I don’t understand any signs or feelings of failure associated with the city not being chosen. How many Olympics as the United States hosted? Tons, with the last being within easy living memory in Salt Lake City. I think this city has hosted an unequal number of Games. Why for one minute feel sorry or dejected or anything other thanĀ  a light shrug about it?

While I certainly don’t feel strongly against the President having gone to Copenhagen (unlike the fringe lunatics claiming he abandoned Washington etc), I think it was too much. He should have just sent the First Lady.

Congratualtions, Brasil. It’s about time.

You should’ve seen the mayhem his visit caused – nothing else on the news for the week before, on trains announcements were made as to the likelihood of delays on the Day. Aaargh. I was kinda happy that I was flying to Dublin on the Thursday…. although the trains still weren’t back on track (timewise) when I got back to Cph on Sunday. Ah well. :) Am still catching up on your SouthAmerican posts – glad you are enjoying it :) Bacione
