Querida
I had been to Jose Garces’ much-heralded Amada once and that was years ago, the next week after returning from Barcelona. At the time I had thought the food was good but the bill was high. A friend of mine went recently and was very unhappy with the food. I love this friend. She’s great, BUT I haven’t found her altogether reliable as far as food is concerned, especially food of this calibre. Still, I was concerned. I hate when good restaurants go bad. I decided I needed to investigate.
I went there today to take advantage of their fairly-priced lunch menu known as the Catalan Express. How could I have doubted. Amada, querida. Service is top-notch, even for a single diner, and the food is perfectly executed. She’s crazy. Garces is still number one. No, the place isn’t cheap, but neither are any of Center City’s flagships, especially when it comes to alcohol. Everything was divine. Thank you. It was worth it being on the starvation diet since last night for that blood draw for the insurance company.
Surely, it would be cheaper in Spain, but we’re not in Spain, are we.
