And Just One More Thing
And just one more clip to make you irate in case you’re not mad enough already. It’s the clip entitled “Fighting Foreclosure”, not the one on the most expensive cities.
How a woman making $50,000 a year could for one moment think she could get a house worth $560,000 and NOT foreclose takes my mind beyond boggling. She can’t really have thought that. She was trying get away with something. How can you take on debt you knew you couldn’t pay back? Are you out of your mind, or just stupid, Giselle James??? Well, are you? I, a responsible taxpayer, would like to know that. I make more than you and never in my wildest dreams would I consider buying something worth that much. Look at your income. Look at the sale price of that house. A 200 year fixed rate mortgage does not exist.
I love how she tries to push the responsibility onto the real estate broker (who is also somewhat of a cretin, but I digress). “They” told me excuses again. When will people ever learn to take responsibility for their own actions? Buying a house isn’t like buying a pair of shoes, even if they were Bruno Maglis. You’re responsible for what you don’t know and it’s time people learn to man up and own up and stop asking people like the Fed or other tax payers to get them out of their own problems of their own making. True, mortgage companies went wild these past few years and gave money to anyone with a pulse, but ultimately, weren’t people taking the money knowingly agreeing to the terms. Did they or did they not agree to taking that cash? It comes down to that old question of someone telling you jump off of a cliff and would you do it thing.
In regards to the James woman, one hour with any one of the books in the library she works in would have taught her the basics she needed to know about financing and buying a house. That’s all it would have taken. And in answer to her own vaguely rhetorical question, yes, you CAN live in a car, wench, and you probably deserve to. Failing that, there’s always an apartment for RENT SOMEWHERE IN NEW YORK CITY!

I AGREE 100% There is no way in hell she did her research before buying this house. The Broker should have really told her the truth 50k wont cut it especially in NEW YORK! ARE U SERIOUS??? 560K For that half a shack. Im sorry if she wins the foreclosure case that will send the wrong message. Maybe I should go take out a loan to buy a house in the Hamptons on my 40k salary!
