Gazpacho
I made it. Tomatoes were at $1/lb at the market and I bought 3 pounds of them and made Andalusian gazpacho (red versus the white Malaga style). It’s exquisite and the only thing that’s kept me from drinking the whole thing is how labor-intensive it was to grind everything in my tiny 3-cup processor and strain it all by hand. I got tons of bowls dirty. I hate that. I couldn’t bring myself to throw out the solids, though, and I’ve kept them as a sandwich spread though it can’t be heated thanks to the cucumber in it. I served it on my crudite platter today for lunch.I’m now in the process of making blackberry sorbetto. I forgot to use filtered water for the simple syrup. Damn. Quick Notes:
- I hate this WordPress. Since about 2 versions back, the online word editor changes your code around. I hate software that thinks it’s smarter than me. It isn’t. I need to get my MarsEdit back and do it through there.
- I found Torta de la Serena today. It’s divine with a nice Spanish red.
- Add this to the column of Why They’re Weirder Than Us. Man, you guys have problems. What is it about Communists and gold medals?
Until next time. Tomorrow I apply for mortgage prequalification.P.S. Dear Mother, I hate how you always feel you have to like what I like, cook what I cook, and read what I read. Hey, I’m all for you developing a life outside of your spawn, but please, SPACE.
