Nepotism

nepotism |ˈnepəˌtizəm|
noun
the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, esp. by giving them jobs.

ORIGIN mid 17th cent.: from French népotisme, from Italian nepotismo, from nipote ‘nephew’ (with reference to privileges bestowed on the “nephews” of popes, who were in many cases their illegitimate sons).

It’s what favors one while cutting down another one. It’s the removal of earned benefits for the benefit of the relative or perceived VIP. It’s the shrugging aside of one whose work has raised them for one who knows the boss. It’s risking losing a trained, strong staff member to keep the little princess happy. Nepotism. They say they don’t practice it, but they do. They tell us all to be silent or risk being pegged a “complainer” or “inflexible”. It’s the gag they shove on those who would speak up for their rights. It’s the silence soaked in rage. Nepotism.

And it’s ruining my life.
