Reactionary

I’m sure that there are certain areas of life that you’re better off waiting, such as getting to know your new co-workers first before befriending the wrong people like backstabbers and gossips. But there are other parts that there is no benefit in waiting. You’re punished mercilessly if you do anything other than diving in headfirst and wresting things out of other hands ruthlessly as if it were the last day on earth.

Making vacation plans is one of them. The earlier, the better. There’s no time to make fully studied decisions. If something looks good, dive on it, even if you’re not altogether sure. I just paid $150 more for the exact ticket I bought 3 days ago. It’s the same airline, the same flight, the same cities. The same. Just my travel partner’s ticket cost another night’s stay at a hotel more than mine.

Barcelona better be even more beautiful and welcoming than I remember it. Less than a week there is nearing the earmarked $3000 mark… and I haven’t even bought any meals yet.
