Macworld Eve
Macworld starts tomorrow at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, I believe. The keynote will be Tuesday. There’s been so much speculation over what will be released, especially the legendary iPhone. What do I want out of Macworld? Here it is:
I want a new iWork with a spreadsheet app just so people will shut up about it. If the word processing capabilities of Pages were beefed up, that would be nice. As it is now, it’s a nice little page layout program with some fledgling word processing skills. I use SubEthaEdit and TextWrangler as my word processors and they really weren’t built for that. I will not buy Word. I will not buy Word. I will not buy Word.
A new iLife with even more cooperation amongst the programs. I rarely use anything other than iPhoto of the suite, though. And even that use has dwindled with the advent of Aperture which is perfect in every way other than speed. iTunes of course is the workhorse, but due to its marriage to the iPod, it’s the one that’s free.
A real video iPod. This may be the one thing as far as hardware is concerned that I jump out and buy… that is, if the battery life makes a larger screen usable for any significant length of time. It may actually the gadget that gets me back in the gym.
As for the iTV gadget, I’m waiting to hear more about it. Specifics. Prices. What does it mean for you who know nothing about advanced technology. I’m not all ready to buy it because all we’ve gotten is a peek. I want to know more.
The iPhone. If there is such a thing and Apple really has solved the problem with all cell phones, then I’d be interested to look since my Razr’s battery is all but dead and I’m looking to get a new phone or battery. The thing is, if it’s real and everything rumored about it is true, I’d rather it were released now rather than 3 months down the line at some sudden Special Event. I’d hate my new Motorola Krazr or Blackberry or whatever I would have bought in the time between.
And of course Mac OS X 10.5.0. When can I get my hands on that? I think that’s what I’m looking forward to the most since that’s the Mother Earth of the Mac universe.
