For Love or Money
For years, I’ve resisted the lure of advertisers’ money. I will not have ugly banner ads. I will not compromise site design for pennies. I will not sell out. I’ll write what and when I want. This is mine. All mine.
But then I heard about this new thing called PayPerPost on a blog whose article I saw on my RSS reader. They pay you for writing about certain things. Not a lot of money, maybe not even enough to justify the time you spent writing it, but you choose which “opportunity” you’d like to take and it doesn’t look like any of them require you to alter obsessively created CSS files. I’ll try it for a bit, if only to give me an idea or two, pay the yearly domain registration price, and maybe even generate a hit or two, though I wonder if I’d feel as free to write what I do if more people read this. I promise to not take an “opportunity” in which I have no interest in writing (that would be the ones about golf). For those with non-Blogger blogs who can afford to start out slowly, it sounds like a good idea. Even I who have resisted all adverts on any of my pages have decided to try it.
