Reactionary

Remember those rings I lost at work like 2 weeks ago? I left them in the pocket of my scrubs and didn’t notice I didn’t have them on until the next morning.

Well, there’s yet another chapter. Yes, another chapter after I had gone through the whole stages of grief thing. Last week, I think it was Friday, the charge person came into my room excitedly yelling my name. I thought, “Great, what now.” If you guys knew the details of my employment, you too would see that’s a reasonable reaction to such a spectacle. But she fished something out of her pocket. It was a braided, multicolored thingie (not mine) with silver things on it and asked, “Are these yours?” Shockingly, they were.

I couldn’t believe my eyes, but there they were, all four. I recognized the one with the knotwork immediately. When I took a closer look, they were a little misshapen and dull (I thought one was broken for a second) but they were indeed all four of my lost rings. The story was one of the residents had found them in his scrubs that morning and had handed it in to the secretary. She in turn had let the charge person know and coincidentally, she knew I had lost them because I was with her when I noticed them gone since my workmate for that day had gotten to work late. The rings had been through the wash and back to the hospital (they use a third party to wash the scrubs) until fund by that resident. Isn’t that nuts?

I can’t put the Claddagh on anymore since the crown is bent inwards and I can’t fit it around my finger that way, but the other three, while wonky, still fit. Amazing. I don’t wear them to work anymore. Or I won’t until I get my watch back from Swiss Army, anyway.

I would post a picture but I’ve become so lazy that taking a picture, USBing it to my computer, getting it out of iPhoto and onto the web has just become too much work. Sad, eh?
