A Lesson From the French
French students are exercising their right to demonstrate and protest something that affects them. Good for them. They’re not creating extreme chaos and mayhem in Paris, just continuing on a long history of student protests.
The apathy of American students and the American people in general is disheartening. How much needs to happen before people do something about it. They complain, but they’re just as likely to complain about the temperaure of their coffee. But most likely, they skirt away from talking about politics at all citing intelligent reasons like “I hate politics”. Instead, they go home and turn up the TV. People are more likely to argue over contestants on American Idol than a new bill being presented in front of the House that day. What’s wrong with people? How much needs to happen before they care enough to get off the couch and do something about it? You have no right to complain if you don’t do anything about it.
