Another Thing Done
Today, I did it. I half-heartedly bought that cheapo Sony Handycam in a not fully-fledged idea to someday, somehow film video of Something. After I received it, I still wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep it even. But then I foudn out that it could be used as a bridge between analog and digital heads to translate media from one to the other. So, in theory, I could copy all my rapidly deteriorating U2 video cassettes onto the computer as digital files to play in just that quality forever. It involved a lot of cables and was a logistical nightmare but I kept the camera.
Today, in your hearing, I did it. I scooted the TV closer to the desk and lined everything up. It worked easily from within iMovie. Yet another fabled Possible Thing done. And I don’t know anything about video. The only hitch was in getting all the clips out of iMovie as separate files instead of one big mammoth DVD. Someday, I’ll transfer it all. God knows I have enough storage space. And anyway, hard drives are cheap.
The legendary squirrels at Graceland clip is digitized and so is the awesome “Mothers of the Disappeared” from Arizona almost 20 years ago. Geez, he was so young then, and so earnest.
Another thing done.
