Self Portrait

You can see the lens opening up wide.

Uh-oh!

I’m listening to Radiohead again after a long hiatus away from them.

Maiden Voyage

I’m not morbid. Graveyards are great places to take a new lens out for a spin because they give you an easy way to check your depth of field at all stops. In this case, I was taking both the new 20D and the new 50mm f/1.4 for a spin. Happy with them both.

Quotables

An editorial in yesterday’s paper was covering something about the Vatican paper L’Osservattore (sp?) had published an article against intelligent design. While I don’t see why this is newsworthy since the people who support such a thing aren’t intelligent Vatican officials but stupid, small-town Americans, the writer went on to liken intelligent design and its [...]

Things I Wish I Had

This isn’t just another Christmas list or want list. These are things I wish existed, but as far as I know, they don’t.
1. SLR cases not by the manufacturer. If one of the many shops that made iPod cases would think about the other small electronics that need nice cases that are not necessarily made [...]

Why?

Why can’t I have a job that doesn’t demand so much of me? It’s either 12 hour night shifts with EVERY OTHER weekend on with no time to plan anything, requests due early and results released late OR it’s normal working days plus numerous call shifts in the afternoons and what’s turning out to be [...]

Grainless

It’s here. Of course, this picture was taken with the A80 who has relinquished its 512MB CF card until a fast, 1 GB one can be found for the new camera. The Rebel has also been stripped of its lens. We’ll see if all this is worth it. It has a shutter like a machine [...]

The Keynote

The great keynote address at Macworld in San Francisco. I rushed home after work to watch the stream, poured myself a drink, and forgot all about that Fed Ex package that’s lost. Watching Steve Jobs introduce new stuff is always fun. Now that the keynote’s over, the complaining has begun in earnest. There was even [...]

iMovie & Bonus

It’s actually pretty easy to use once you get video content into it. I know nothing about codecs or how editing is done in the real world but I’m hacking along and I’m almost done with the familial Christmas video. The only thing I know anything about is using my Mac and image editing software [...]

Another Page

I played my annual “New Year’s Day” this morning and have yet to leave the house. I probably won’t now since everything’s closed today. I meant to go out and photograph the parade, but that never happened. It’s bleak out.
I’m inside editing the footage I taped at Christmas, listening to the U2.Communication audio, and wishing [...]
