A Sign of Things to Come?

To the rock fan, to the music fan, to anyone who’s ever bewailed the sad state of the music industry where money men have more power and say than the artists who actually write the music. For anyone bitten by the RIAA. For anyone who hates the corporate greed that’s turned music from transcendent to just another product like Hershey bars. For all dreamers. For all indie artists. For all those who have thought the gates of opportunity would never open for them. For those who have had it slammed in their faces after an album sold less-than projected. For every artist who gave up rights to their own music just for a chance to get it recorded. For them all and all of us, this could be the best news you’ve heard in a long time.

Imagine bypassing the record companies. Imagine them getting their comeuppance. Imagine Napster from beyond the grave, a thousand good but abandoned artists, billions of music fans, all laughing as they get theirs. Sony is going to have to find a way to settle its bad blood with Apple to get that music on there. Too much money is at stake. But this could be it. This could be a sign of a counterrevolution. This could be a step in the way of getting it all back.

And the best part is, some guys from Cupertino, CA were at the center of it all.
