I Hate Meddlers

Firstly, there’s tired and then there’s TIRED. I’m beyond tired today. I have no idea (well, maybe an inkling) why. The weather’s finally nice again and yet I can barely keep my eyes open and have no motivation whatsoever to enjoy any of nature’s gifts. I want to stay in and revel in 0’s and 1’s and stereo systems.

No, I won’t call anyone nor do I want to see them. One of the best things about living in the city is being able to order out for everything and anything. I plan to, but then I hate when clerks, delivery guys etc feel like they need to comment on your life. I’m leary about getting some comment on how it’s so nice out, why are you staying in? You may ask, why? Why? Only because it’s happened before. I really, really hate that. It’s right up there with my hatred for people who saunter down sidewalks as if they were at Kew Gardens.

Why must anyone comment on what I do and how I do it? I realise some people may think they’re just being friendly, but I find it to be meddling rather than friendly. Let me buy what I want to buy and when I want to buy it without your goddam input on its merits!

I plan on doing nothing else of note this weekend. Besides the obligatory call to my mother, I’d be happy not seeing or speaking to anyone else I know. It’s a bit like storing up for the upcoming madness, you see. I only have so much energy and it’s like I’m subconsciously saving it up for the coming 2 weeks. U2 at Croke Park and Live 8.

Speaking of both momentous occasions, I had hoped to have the new mobile by then but Croke’s definitely out and Live 8 may now be out since the company now says they’re out of the phone I ordered and it’s on backorder. It’s a nice phone. I can’t abide ugly things so I’ll wait, even if it means missing two great ops for the send cameraphone pictures to Flickr thing.

And then I read things like this and I wonder if I should have waited, especially now that it looks like I’ll miss the flagship events anyway. Fuck it. The Motorola Razr’s cool, but if/ when this Nokia-Apple thing comes out, I’ll feel envious of those who will have it. Another one of my cellphone resistant movement arguments has been the OS in the phones looks like crap as well. If Apple writes an OS and Nokia releases a Jobs-approved phone to go with it, I’ll be verifiably green. You can never be on top of this tech boom, though. Ever.

Post scriptum: Why is my iMac box still sitting in the middle of my tiny apartment as if I had floor space to spare? Because I forgot my locker combination, that’s why. I made two trips to the basement today to try and figure it out. Still no success. Double dammit.
