Dear Motley Crue

They’re mad because NBC wants to ban them after one of them used the word “fuck” during a live broadcast. “Why us?” they ask. “Bono did this, too… more than once. Why isn’t HE banned rather than being seeked out to appear on TV?”

I have news, idiots. Bono’s cute and you’re not. I don’t know how the word was used by the Motley Crue dude, but Bono certainly used it as inoffensively as someone can. Either way, Motley Crue is “known for its hard partying and wild sexcapades” and for starting a hissy fit against Napster. U2 is known for its social activism, passionate songs, and lovable frontman. There’s no comparison. Bono can say whatever he wants, if only because he’s so adorable in how he goes about doing it. People who have never stood for anything other than the rock and roll stereotypes should just shut up. I’m laughing at them over this… especially because of Napster. And I applaud U2 for the iPod commercial and their work with Apple. They’re forward-thinking and solution-prone rather than being blind knee-jerkers. Rock on, Irish boy.
