Reactionary

Sometimes I just have to write down what it is that’s bugging me. I can’t help it. So what is it lately? These:

1. I hate people who get behind you while you’re trying to get into your apartment building and no matter how much you’re holding or how difficult it is to find your keys, they just stand there and wait until you open the door for them. How do I know you live here, wench! Would it kill you to fish your own keys out, bastard? Can’t you see I’m holding 2 bags full of groceries, prat? I want retinal scanners installed in my lobby.

2. People on the street with some pet Cause. Dammit, one can’t even walk by the local “Barnes and Noble” anymore without being accosted by some clipboard-toting activist who wants to talk to you “for a second” about something like saving the whales or feeding the children. Talk about being spammed in real life. My favorite is when it’s raining or something and they still want to have some big conversation in the rain that ends with you giving them money for some Cause. It’s part of the reason why I wear my headphones all the time now.

On a good note, sometimes cool things happen like today one of the attendings had a CD full of tunes, most of which live in my iTunes library. And of course, there were some choice U2 cuts like “With or Without You” and “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” but the coolest one was the Rattle & Hum version of “Pride” complete with the “Fuck the revolution” speech in it. Some things make you happy whilst working.
