Even a Child
Why is “even a child” used so much when trying to make a point? It’s used in a way to illustrate something is so simple, “even a child” can get it. Why? True that children may not know as much as an adult due to their concrete thinking and their limited experience. But they’re not stupid, they’re not clueless, they’re not blind. Actually, it’s more true that you get blinder as you get older. Children see what’s there and adults see what they want to see. “Even a child”? Yeah, right. It should be “even an adult” instead. But adults tend to be so delusional that even the most simple things, they miss. Few things bother me more than watching children be ignored, patronized, and belittled, especially when it’s under a blanket of affection. You don’t need to be hugging them, kissing them, or buying them things, just listen to them and never speak for them when they’ve been granted their own clear, honest voices. They need to be respected. They deserve it. People who aren’t willing to do that, shouldn’t have them.
