Reactionary

Here we go again. The transit union’s threatening another strike (a yearly ritual) if they don’t get what they want. And what do they want this time? They don’t want to pay any out of pocket heath care costs, no copays for their health insurance. I pay out of pocket stupid health care costs and I work in health care. This is a completely unreasonable demand. People just want everything for nothing. SEPTA the company says they need workers to pitch in and cover the expenses for their skyrocketing premiums… like everyone else. The union says since they don’t get sick days per se (neither do I!), they shouldn’t have to pay anything.

Besides the disaster it would cause for the region if the ONLY public transit authority strikes, it’s just another example of just how unreasonable things have gotten in this country. People hear stories of medical miracles and how things are more available etc etc etc and they feel they should have them. There’s never a thought of going without. The idea itself is considered an abomination. No one’s realized there are only so many resources on this planet to maintain the still-booming-in-spite-of-war/ disease/ etc population. THERE ISN’T ENOUGH. And ideas that there are may have been propagated by the well-meaning but delusional do-gooders. The health care situation in this country is really going to hit the fan in a few years. Docs were talking about it at work a little bit ago. There aren’t enough nurses. There aren’t enough doctors. The few there are are getting sued right and left for honest mistakes, and worse, things that aren’t mistakes at all but unreasonable expectations by the onlookeers. And with a booming population, there will not be enough human and otherwise resources to fill the needs, let alone DEMANDS (which aren’t needs at all, more like whims) of the populace.

Announcement: Health care isn’t like McDonald’s where you can walk in and order anything off the menu and want it to look like the picture. Some babies are born ugly etc. Live with it. But no one wants to live with it. They want to blame it on “they”. Translation: They= someone else. I have two words. The threatened SEPTA strike is just another example of the expectations and delusions of plenty that will go unfilled, worse, break what we already have.
